INTERESTING FACTS OF UNIVERSE

    INTERESTING FACTS OF UNIVERSE

1. Saturn's moon Titan has plenty of evidence of organic (life) chemicals in its atmosphere.
2. Life is known to exist only on Earth, but in 1986 NASA found what they thought might be fossils of microscopic living things in a rock from Mars.
3. Most scientists say life's basic chemicals formed on the Earth. The astronomer Fred Hoyle said they came from space.
4. Oxygen is circulated around the helmet in space suits in order to prevent the visor from misting.
5. The middle layers of space suits are blown up like a balloon to press against the astronaut's body. Without this pressure, the astronaut's body would boil!
6. The gloves included in the space suit have silicon rubber fingertips which allow the astronaut some sense of touch.
7. The full cost of a spacesuit is about $11 million although 70% of this is for the backpack and the control module.
8. Ever wondered how the pull of gravity is calculated between heavenly bodies? It's simple. Just multiply their masses together, and then divide the total by the square of the distance between them.
9. Glowing nebulae are named so because they give off a dim, red light, as the hydrogen gas in them is heated by radiation from the nearby stars.
10. The Drake Equation was proposed by astronomer Frank Drake to work out how many civilizations there could be in our galaxy - and the figure is in millions.
11. SETI is the Search for ExtraTerrestrial Intelligence - the program that analyzes radio signals from space for signs of intelligent life.
12. The Milky Way galaxy we live in: is one among the BILLIONS in space.

13. The Milky Way galaxy is whirling rapidly, spinning our sun and all its other stars at around 100 million km per hour.
14. The Sun travels around the galaxy once every 200 million years – a journey of 100,000 light years.
15. There may be a huge black hole in the very middle of the most of the galaxies.
16. The Universe is probably about 15 billion years old, but the estimations vary.
17. One problem with working out the age of the Universe is that there are stars in our galaxy which are thought to be 14 to 18 billion years old – older than the estimated age of the Universe. So, either the stars must be younger, or the Universe older.
18. The very furthest galaxies are spreading away from us at more than 90% of the speed of light.
19. The Universe was once thought to be everything that could ever exist, but recent theories about inflation (e.g. Big Bang) suggest our universe may be just one of countless bubbles of space time.
20. The Universe may have neither a centre nor an edge, because according to Einstein’s theory of relativity, gravity bends all of space time around into an endless curve.
21. If you fell into a black hole, you would stretch like spaghetti.
22. Matter spiraling into a black hole is torn apart and glows so brightly that it creates the brightest objects in the Universe – quasars.
23. The swirling gases around a black hole turn it into an electrical generator, making it spout jets of electricity billions of kilometers out into space.
24. The opposite of black holes are estimated to be white holes which spray out matter and light like fountains.
25. A day in Mercury lasts approximately as long as 59 days on earth.

13 MOST WONDERFUL BRIDGES OF WORLD

13 MOST WONDERFUL BRIDGES OF WORLD

Khaju_Bridje_at_night

Bridges are perhaps the most invisible form of public architecture.
Bruce Jackson

Bridges are wonderful pieces of architecture in and of themselves, not only providing crossings of water and over dangerous roads and cliffs, but in the best cases pleasing to the eye and the mind. We look here at 13 of the most unusual and also aesthetically pleasing bridges in the world.

Khaju Bridge, Turkey
Khaju Bridge, Isfahan, Iran. The Khanju Bridge in Ishfahan, Iran is an amazing piece of architecture, built in the 1650s. It also functions as a weir downstream, taking the water to a much lower level. The sluice gates underneath the arches increase the water for irrigation upstream.
The bridge has 23 arches and is 105 meters long. When it was built, horses and carts used the main passageway, while pedestrians used the vaulted paths on both sides. Today, walkers can also access the bottom tier and it is often used to relax in a shady place. The two big octagonal pavilions give a great view.

Puente del Alamillio, SpainPuente del AlamilloThis striking bridge was built in 1992 to span the Canal de Alfonso XIII and La Cartuja, an island on the other side of the canal. Its structure of the single cantilevered pylon counterbalances the rest of the span. It was designed to show the soaring hopes of Seville for Expo 1992. The simple, elegant design results in one of the most beautiful bridges in the world.

Chengyang Bridge, China Dong-minority-bridgeThe Chengyang Bridge is an amazing bridge made up of "two platforms (at the two ends of the bridge), 3 piers, and 4 spans, 5 pavilions, 19 verandas, and three floors." The upper part is made of wood while the rest is made of stone. Built in 1916, the bridge is still in use today as the connection between two villages. It inspired a Chinese author, Guo Moruo, so much that he wrote a poem about it.

Verrazano Narrows Bridge, New YorkVerazzanoIn New York, connecting Brooklyn and Staten Island, you will find the Verrazano-Narrows suspension bridge. This lovely structure was named after Guiseppe Verrazano, the Italian explorer. It has the eighth largest span in the world and for those who remember the movie Saturday Night Fever, it was featured in it.

Stari Most, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Stari MostThe Stari Most is not just beautiful, it also has a very interesting history. Built in the 16th century by the Ottoman Empire in the city of Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, it stood for 427 years until it was totally destroyed in the Bosnian war. UNESCO, the World Bank, the Aga Khan Trust, Turkey, Italy and the Netherlands all funded its reconstruction.
Stari MostThe builders used stone quarried in the vicinity to make it as near as possible to the original, and Hungarian divers went into the river to reclaim as much of the original stone as possible. It truly was a time the world came together to build a bridge.

The Old Bridge of Konitsa, GreeceThe old bridge of Konitsa over the river AoosThis centuries-old bridge in Greece spans the river Aoos, which is
full in winter. If you look carefully to the right under the top of the bridge, you can see a small bell. Villagers say that when there is enough wind to make the bell sound, it is to dangerous to cross the bridge.

Rode Brug, Utrecht, the NetherlandsRed BridgeThe "Red Bridge" is in Utrecht, Holland and apart from being simply bizarre in shape, some believe has some extra symbolism. If you take the left pictured here, you will arrive in Utrecht's red light district where prostitutes can be found on houseboats. More than one person has remarked that the shape of the bridge is that of a woman's legs apart and the pelvic area. We will leave it to you to decide if there is any symbolism here.

Ponte Vecchio, Italy
Ponte VecchioThis is one of the oldest bridges in our collection, dating from the Middle Ages. It was first mentioned in a document in 993. The bridge has a stone base and was first built with wooden structures on top. Today, just like when it was built, there are stores on the bridge. Originally, they were butcher shops but they gave way to gold merchants and now various goods can be found here.
Ponte VecchioThe bridge had to be rebuilt in 1335 and a sheltered nook holds a dedication stone in the center loggia saying (in Italian) "In the thirty-third year following thirteen hundred, the bridge fell, from a watery flood: ten years later, at the pleasure of the Commune, it was rebuilt, with this adornment". Truly one of the more unusual bridges on our list.

Millenium Bridge, Gateshead, UK
Millennium BridgeThis bridge is found in Gateshead, United Kingdom and has won numerous prestigious awards for its structure. It is a pedestrian and cyclist bridge that works on a tilt. The part over the water tilts 40 degrees to allow boats and ships through. At night, it exhibits colored lights as seen below.
Millenium Bridge

Tianjin Eye, China

Tianjin EyeThe amazing part of this bridge is the giant Ferris Wheel built over it. Called the Tianjin Eye, it spans the Yongle River in China and is 120 meters high. The seats are actually capsules that hold eight people, so quite a few can experience it together if they aren't afraid of heights...over water no less!

Python Bridge, HollandSporenburg-Borneo BridgeThis incredible bridge connects Sporenburg with the island of Borneo in
Holland. It is a footbridge that won the International Footbridge award in 2002.
Sporenburg-Borneo Bridge

Bridge of Sighs, Venice, Italy
Bridge of SighsThe Bridge of Sighs in Venice connects the old prisons to the doge's interrogation rooms. Legend has it that the small amount prisoners could see through the stone-barred windows was their last sight of Venice. The name of the bridge was coined by Lord Byron, the famous poet of the time.

Tower Bridge, London, UK
Tower BridgeThe Tower Bridge in London is iconic, yet tourists occasionally refer to it as London Bridge, which is the next one over. Even though nowadays it is considered beautiful, at the beginning of the 20th century it received a lot of criticism for its looks. "It represents the vice of tawdriness and pretentiousness, and of falsification of the actual facts of the structure", wrote H. H. Statham, while Frank Brangwyn stated that "A more absurd structure than the Tower Bridge was never thrown across a strategic river."
Bridges by their very beings are passageways to new worlds, safe passage at that. To build bridges has entered our lexicon as how we humans should strive to get along with each other. These 13 examples will hopefully inspire some thoughts of how often we pass bridges without seeing them and noticing that they are beautiful pieces of architecture.

Next Android 4.4 - KitKat

Next Android 4.4 - KitKat

The KitKat OS will be the Android 4.4 operating system with the newest features smart phones have to offer.
Android is OS and makes our life so sweet therefore they named every version after a desert. As everybody finds it difficult to stay away from choclates they decided to name next version as KitKat. Also Google names their operating systems by alphabet. That is
C- Cupcake
D- Donut
E- Eclair
F- Froyo
G- Gingerbread
H- Honeycomb
I- Ice Cream sandwich
J- Jellybean
K - KitKat

There will be few lucky smart phones that will receive the KitKat OS first. Since Google is creating the KitKat, the first phone to receive the Android operating system will be the Nexus 5 which Google will create with LG. However, Google was rumored to create their own phone with the new Motorola Company they just acquired for billions of dollars. The phone will be called Motorola X. The new Galaxy S4 will also recieve KitKat OS but much later because Google will want to keep an edge for their products.

Another curved smartphone. This time from LG (LG G Flex)

Another curved smartphone. This time from LG (LG G Flex)

The LG G Flex is rumored curved screen smerphone that will be launched soon. This of course come after Samsung Galaxy Round. If the pictures are trusted then LG's G Flex would be curved from top to bottom while Galaxy Round is curved from left to right.
According to rumors phone size will be 6 inches and it will be launched next month with it curved glory, although pricing is unknown at this point.

The curve is designed to ergonomically fit around the user's face as they use the smartphone.

Pictures show the LG G Flex will use similar button placement to the LG G2, which has rear buttons to provide more space for the battery and increase battery life.

Both LG and Samsung have already released televisions featuring the curved organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays, which can bend because they are made of plastic rather than glass.

Research firm IHS Display predicts the global flexible display industry will see dramatic growth in the coming years, becoming a $1.5 billion (£900 million) market by 2016 and exceeding $10 billion by 2019.

Prehistoric MuSiC

Prehistoric MuSiC

I am back with the histoy of music  in different eras. The first era on my list is PREHISTORIC ERA. Here I go.

Prehistoric Music

Prehistoric music (previously called primitive music) is a term in the history of music for all music produced in preliterate cultures (prehistory), beginning somewhere in very late geological history. Prehistoric music is followed by ancient music in different parts of the world, but still exists in isolated areas. Prehistoric music thus technically includes all of the world’s music that has existed before the advent of any currently-extant historical sources concerning that music of the early stage of development of the human. However, it is more common to refer to the "prehistoric" music which still survives as folk, indigenous or traditional music. Prehistoric music is studied alongside other periods within Music Archaeology.

Origins
Research on the evolutionary origins of music mostly started in the second half of the 19th century, and was much discussed within Music Archaeology in the 20th Century. After the appearance of the collection of articles "The Origins of Music" (Wallin, Merker, Brown, 2000) the subject was a debated topic of human evolutionary history. There are currently many hypotheses (not necessarily conflicting) about the origins of music.

Some suggest that the origin of music likely stems from naturally occurring sounds and rhythms. Human music may echo these phenomena using patterns, repetition and tonality. Even today, some cultures have certain instances of their music intending to imitate natural sounds. In some instances, this feature is related to shamanistic beliefs or practice. It may also serve entertainment (game) or practical (luring animals in hunt) functions.

Even aside from the bird song, monkeys have been witnessed to beat on hollow logs. Although this might serve some purpose of territorialism, it suggests a degree of creativity and seems to incorporate a call and response [citation needed] dialogue. From a psychological viewpoint, the question of the origin of music is difficult to answer. Music evokes strong emotions and changed states of awareness.

Prehistoric Musical Instruments

It is likely that the first musical instrument was the human voice itself, which can make a vast array of sounds, from singing, humming and whistling through to clicking, coughing and yawning. (See Darwin’s Origin of Species on music & speech.) The oldest known Neanderthal hyoid bone with the modern human form has been dated to be 60,000 years old, predating the oldest known Paleolithic bone flute by some 20,000 years; but the true chronology may date back much further.

HiStoRy of "MUSIC"

HiStoRy of "MUSIC"

Hope everyone who reads our blog found our last blog, "What is MUSIC..??" informative and interesting. Now let me start the history of music. I will not give a extensive knowledge but a fair amount of knowledge. All of us wants to know about the history of music. So here we are:

History

Music is found in every known culture, past and present, varying wildly between times and places. Since all people of theworld, including the most isolated tribal groups, have a form of music, it may be concluded that music is likely to have been present in the ancestral population prior to the dispersal of humans around the world. Consequently music may have been in existence for at least 50,000 years and the first music may have been invented in Africa and then evolved to become a fundamental constituent of human life.

A culture's music is influenced by all other aspects of that culture, including social and economic organization and experience, climate, and access to technology. The emotions and ideas that music expresses, the situations in which music is played and listened to, and the attitudes toward music players and composers all vary between regions and periods. "Music history" is the distinct subfield ofmusicology and history which studies music (particularly Western art music) from a chronological perspective.

In my next blog of music we will tell you about the history of music in different eras of the world. Stay tuned with our blog. ;)

What is MUSIC..??

What is MUSIC..??

All of us around the globe love to listen music. It give us pleasure, it relaxes us, it make us happy, it us tells our state of mind. Music have become an integral part of everyone's life. But do u know the exact meaning of music? Do u? I guess no. So let me tell you the meaning of word music.

What is the meaning of word "MUSIC"

Music is an art form whose medium is sound and silence. Its common elements are pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics, and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture.

The creation, performance, significance, and even the definition of music vary according to culture and social context. Music ranges from strictly organized compositions (and their recreation in performance), through improvisational music to aleatoric forms. Music can be divided into genres and sub genres, although the dividing lines and relationships between music genres are often subtle, sometimes open to individual interpretation, and occasionally controversial. Within "the arts", music may be classified as a performing art, a fine art, and auditory art. It may also be divided among "artmusic" and "folk music". There is also a strong connection between music and mathematics. Music may be played and heard live, may be part of a dramatic work or film, or may be recorded.

To many people in many cultures, music is an important part of their way of life. Ancient Greek and Indian philosophers defined music as tones ordered horizontally as melodies and vertically as harmonies. Common sayings such as "the harmony of the spheres" and "it is music to my ears" point to the notion that music is often ordered and pleasant to listen to. However, 20th-century composer John Cage thought that any sound can be music, saying, for example, "There is no noise, only sound." Musicologist Jean-Jacques Nattiez summarizes the relativist, post-modern viewpoint: "The border between music and noise is always culturally defined—which implies that, even within a single society, this border does not always pass through the same place; in short, there is rarely a consensus ... By all accounts there is no single and intercultural universal concept defining what music might be."

Hope all the music lovers will find it useful and stay tuned for our next blogs on history of music. :) ;)

Instagram announces "INSTAGRAM DIRECT"

Instagram announces "INSTAGRAM DIRECT"

At an event in New York city today, Instagram announced Instagram Direct, a new messaging feature available today for iOS and Android that lets users send text, video, and photo messages to each other privately. "Communication is not about photography, necessarily," said CEO Kevin Systrom. "If we were about photography we'd be built into cameras, but we're not, we're built into phones." Instagram up to this point focused on photos and videos — "moments" — as Instagram calls them. Messaging adds a third dimension to the app that lets people communicate using words, Systrom says, but more importantly to do so privately, if you'd like. "Sometimes you want to be able to share not with everyone, but just with a specific group," he said.

Once your'e finished editing a photo in Instagram, you can now send your photo to up to 15 people, or to just one person. Each conversation needs to start with a photo, however — you can't send just text right off the bat. If the friend you're sending a message to is online, their avatar lights up in real-time inside a chat to show that they've seen or liked your message. A new Inbox button adorns the top right corner of your Instagram home screen that lets you instantly tap into your recent messages. If someone sends you a direct message while you're browsing the app, a badge pops up on top of the Inbox button. Like on Twitter, only the people that you follow can send you photos and videos. Your groups can be for your college buddies, classmates, or your husband or wife, Systrom says.

Real-time likes and chat bring this feature alive," Systrom says. When asked about whether ephemeral messaging, a la Snapchat, could ever make its way into Instagram Direct, Systrom responded: "There's definitely a space for ephemerality in general whether it's text or photos or videos, but Instagram is focused on capturing the world's moments. The important part in Instagram [Direct] is being able to go back to [photos] in order to have that conversation, and if they're not there anymore you can't have that conversation and see who has liked it."
Today's announcement marks Instagram's first foray into messaging. Considering the astronomical popularity of apps like WhatsApp, Kik, Viber, and more recently Snapchat, many speculated that seeing Instagram's first messaging product was only a matter of time. Private messaging, however, is far from a new idea. Since its early days Twitter, for example, had its own private message page for users, but only this past week did it bring that feature to the forefront. Instagram, on the other hand, has spent its time this year rolling out video posts, a Windows phone app, photo tagging, an iOS 7 refresh, and its first ads.

Instagram doesn't explicitly face WhatsApp and Snapchat as competition in the photo-sharing space, but the company has seen apps like these eat away at the attention spans of its users. Snapchat lets users share disappearing photos, unlike Instagram, but if it in some ways fulfills the same utility as Instagram — sharing moments with
family and friends — it becomes a threat. By adding private messaging to its app, Instagram is now one step closer to these competitors, but also more useful to its users.

Virtually true

  Virtually true

DREAM. SIMUALTE.  FEEL IT
Is our world a cosmic simulation?? You  obviously don't believe that, and shouldn't. But it's incredible how technology has changed the world of simulators. In its basic form, a simulator is a device that lets you experience or practise a skill or task withou the cost or risk associated. Here are classic examples.....

This Ferrari simulator experience
is available to fans in Singapore
HOW RED BULL GAINED
In only nine years Red bull has managed to go from being the 'fun undergo' of Formula 1, to undisputed championship. Simulation and virtual environments, using software written by an in-house development team, is how they achieved this.
The custom-built RedBull Racing simulator puts the driver on a 10-foot, hydraulically-controlled hexapod. Atop this platform is a 180 degree screen fed by three projector, along with an exact recreation of the cockpit.
"We design the entire car in 3D, in a virtual environment. Using CFD (computational fluid dynamics) - a virtual wind tunnel - a supercomputer, and software to stimulate airflow, we can test and analyse the predicted strength of each new component before we spend the time and money on manufacturing it," says Al Peasland, head of Technical partnerships.
For each race Red Bull sends 100 GB of data from the track to its factory and back, in real time. This data is used to influence 25,000 design changes to the car over a season, which are implemented trackside in very tense conditions.

MOTION SENSORS REVOLUTION

Untill December 2, 2006, the only way to play games was by pushing buttons, but that was changed with the launch of the Nintendo Wii. The Japanese company revolutionised gaming, a swing in golf wwas no more a synchronised push of buttons and analog sticks. The Wii simplified gaming.
With the world quickly moving beyond gamepads, Sony and Microsoft launched the 'Move' and Kinect did something a little more special. It removed the controller from your hands.
All it needed was the sensor placed near your tv, and would then capture your body movements. While the software had it's glitches, the possiblities were endless. Soon there were fitness games that could guide you through your daily exercise routine.
While motion sensor gaming is still in it's early stages when compared to gaming as a whole,  the positive reception means it can only take off from here. You could soon be dribbling a virtual ball, racing with world class cars, in your living room, scoring, celebrating, while 90 thousand fans cheer you in game avatar.
